Creation and modification of URLs
- To create a short URL, you need a RESTENA account. To access your account, select your institution from the list of identity providers provided after clicking on the Login with Restena button from the {appname} home page. Is your institution not listed? See the "Service subscription" section below.
- Paste the long URL you want to shorten into the text field. You will then receive your unique URL edu.lu, which you can use immediately. The code you receive is random, case insensitive and contains no confusing characters (such as the number zero and the letter o).
- When logged in, you can preview all the URLs you have created. You can also view the total number of visits since their creation date, modify them (customise the target link) or delete them.
- A deleted short URL is never edited again. Since each short URL is unique, no other user can be assigned a link you have deleted.
Universal accessibility of links edu.lu
Anyone can open an edu.lu link by typing it or clicking on it in a browser. Also, links are not case-sensitive.
Service subscription
Is the institution where you work or study not listed as an Identity Provider? That means your institution has not subscribed to the service.
Good news! All institutions connected to the RESTENA network are eligible for this service free of charge. Is your institution connected to the RESTENA network but you are unable to login? Ask your institution to notify the Restena Foundation of its interest in the service.
Extra features
In addition to shortening a link, you can also directly generate a QR code that takes people to the link, and download it in different file formats.
You can attach a label to a link for yourself to better remember which link is for which application. The label is free-form and will not be not be shown to anyone else than yourself.
